The Knox County Parks Department develops and maintains County and regional parks and trails for recreational use. Knox County has more than 2500 acres of park and recreation land, 15 types of athletic facilities, 800 teams and 50 programs.

Rowing

 The Knoxville Rowing Association provides rowing opportunities for people of all ages, rowing on the Tennessee River in downtown Knoxville. The club involves area high school students through its Juniors Rowing Program. The Masters Division includes college-age and older.

Rugby

All High school aged boys and girls in East Tennessee are eligible to participate in the Smoky Mountain Conference. Several high schools in the Knoxville area have existing rugby boys' and girls' teams. If a prospective player's high school doesn't offer rugby, they will be placed with an existing team until such time that their school has enough interest from other students to form their own club.
